Artists at the Market, Percussion Series and Victoria Park Concerts

 

Artists at the Market

This Saturday, August 9^th, Moncton’s Artists at the Market series will feature performances from the Atlantic Dance Festival from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

 

Once again, the Market stage will be alive with passion and movement as the Atlantic Dance Festival takes the stage. Spectators will be in awe as local groups move beyond imaginable boundaries in the expressive art of dance. The Marché Moncton Market is located in the heart of downtown Moncton on Westmorland Street.

 

Percussion Series

On Saturday, August 9^th from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bore Park amphitheatre, everyone is invited to take part in an open Percussion Jam, overlooking the Petitcodiac River. Bring your own instrument to jam and remember that all types of percussion instruments are welcome.

 

The Bore Park amphitheatre is located next to the Treitz Haus and the Rodd Park House Inn, on Main Street.

 

Victoria Park Concerts

On Tuesday, August 12^th at 7 p.m, Daniel Vo-Ngoc will perform at the outdoor amphitheatre in Victoria Park.

 

Daniel Vo-Ngoc, who is a native Monctonian and a graduate of L’Odyssée High School, began his training with cellist Sonja Adams. Furthering his cello studies at the University of Western Ontario, this former member of the NB Youth Orchestra, aspires to a career in classical music performance.

 

Victoria Park is located within walking distance of downtown Moncton between Cameron Street and Weldon Street. If it rains, no need to worry, the concert is automatically rescheduled for the following evening at 7 p.m. In the event that it rains on the re-scheduled Wednesday evening, the concert will be cancelled.

Artistes au Marché

Ce samedi 9 août, de 11 h à 12 h 30, dans le cadre de la série Artistes au Marché de Moncton, on pourra voir des numéros du Festival de danse de l’Atlantique.

 

Une fois de plus, la scène du marché regorgera de passion et de mouvement grâce aux danseurs du Festival de danse de l’Atlantique. Les spectateurs seront ébahis par les groupes locaux qui exécuteront des mouvements difficilement imaginables et qui s’exprimeront grâce à l’art de la danse. Série de percussion

Tout le monde est invité à prendre part à un Jam de percussion improvisé le samedi 9 août, de 13 h 30 à 15 h, à l’amphithéâtre du parc du Mascaret, qui surplombe la rivière Petitcodiac. Apportez votre propre instrument pour participer. Tous les types d’instrument de percussion sont les bienvenus!

 

L’amphithéâtre du parc du Mascaret est situé à côté de la maison Treitz et de l’hôtel Rodd Park House Inn, rue Main.

 

Concerts au parc Victoria

Le mardi 12 août à 19 h, Daniel Vo-Ngoc présentera un concert à l’amphithéâtre en plein air du parc Victoria.

 

Originaire de Moncton et diplômé de l’école secondaire L’Odyssée, Daniel Vo-Ngoc a commencé sa formation avec la violoncelliste Sonja Adams. Cet ancien membre de l’Orchestre des jeunes du Nouveau-Brunswick poursuit ses études à l’Université Western Ontario et aspire à une carrière en concerts de musique classique.

 

Le parc Victoria est situé à une distance de marche du centre-ville de Moncton entre les rues Cameron et Weldon. Inutile de s’inquiéter s’il pleut : le concert est inévitablement reporté au soir suivant, à 19 h. S’il pleut le mercredi auquel le concert a été reporté, le concert sera annulé.

Despite the uncertain weather conditions today, the Victoria Park Concert series is still on for this evening, Wednesday August 6. Tonight’s concert will feature the African Youth Choir. Malgré les conditions météorologiques incertaines d’aujourd’hui, le concert de ce soir au parc Victoria aura bel et bien lieu le mercredi 6 août. Le concert de ce soir mettra en vedette le Chœur jeunesse africaine. Le concert, qui commence à 19 h, a lieu dans le parc Victoria, lequel est situé à une distance de marche du centre-ville de Moncton, entre les rues Cameron et Weldon.

New Brunswick Day Celebrations at the Moncton Museum and the Thomas Williams House

 

Moncton – August 4^th will be a day for celebrating our great province of New Brunswick, and the staff of the Moncton Museum and of the Thomas Williams House will be celebrating by holding activities for all ages from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

 

At the Moncton Museum, there will be cake and beverages, outdoor activities, a scavenger hunt, crafts and face painting. Also, Paul Dubé will be offering his very own brand of jazz guitar entertainment from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will be door prizes to be won, as well as prizes for participating in the various outdoor activities. Participation is free of charge, and all are welcome.

 

The Thomas Williams House will also be providing cake and beverages, and live fiddle music will be provided by Greater Moncton’s own Samantha Robichaud at 1:30 p.m. and again at 2:30 p.m. Join us for a scavenger hunt and some Victorian outdoor games, as well as a New Brunswick Day craft. Participation is free of charge, although we encourage donations to help keep the house operational.

 

The Moncton Museum is located at 20 Mountain Rd and is open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from Monday to Saturday and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sundays. The Museum may be contacted during these hours at 856-4383.

 

The Thomas Williams House is located at 103 Park St, at the corner of Park and Highfield streets, and is open Monday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Thomas Williams House may be contacted during these hours at 857-0590. Please note that the Thomas Williams House Victorian Tearoom will be closed on New Brunswick Day. It will be open as usual on Tuesday, August 5^th, at 10:30 a.m.

Le Musée de Moncton et la Maison Thomas Williams célèbrent la fête du Nouveau-Brunswick

 

Moncton – Le 4 août,  c’est la fête du Nouveau-Brunswick, et le Musée de Moncton et la Maison Thomas Williams tiendront des célébrations à l’honneur de notre belle province pour des gens de tous les âges, de 13 h à 16 h.

 

Au Musée de Moncton, il y aura du gâteau et des breuvages, des activités extérieures, des activités d’artisanat, une chasse aux trésors et du maquillage de la figure. De plus, Paul Dubé jouera de la guitare jazz de 13 h à 14 h. Des prix de présence seront offerts, ainsi que des prix pour la participation aux diverses activités extérieures. La participation est gratuite, et tout le monde est bienvenu.

 

La Maison Thomas Williams offrira quant à elle du gâteau et des breuvages. Samantha Robichaud, originaire du Grand Moncton, jouera du violon à 13 h 30 et à 14 h 30.  Joignez-vous à nous pour une chasse aux trésors et des jeux victoriens, ainsi qu’un bricolage à l’honneur du Nouveau-Brunswick. L’entrée est libre, mais nous encourageons des dons afin de garder la maison ouverte.

 

Le Musée de Moncton se situe au 20, chemin Mountain. Le Musée est ouvert du lundi au samedi de 9 h à 16 h 30 et le dimanche de 13 h à 17 h. Veuillez composer le 856-4383 pour de plus amples renseignements.

Artists at the Market, Percussion Series and Victoria Park Concerts

Artists at the Market

This Saturday, July 26, Moncton’s Artists at the Market series will feature two outstanding performances. At 11 a.m., Sylvia Campbell will take the stage, and from noon until 1 p.m. the Wild Gypsies will be providing musical entertainment.

Sylvia Campbell has been a performer in the Maritimes for the last 15 years and her music stylings include country-style vocals, yodeling and Downeast fiddling. Her inaugural album was released in 2007, and is titled “Echoes and Strings”.

The Wild Gypsies bring us the oriental sounds and hypnotic rhythms of the music traditionally played by the Lautari (Romanian gypsy musicians). Their show will take you along the Danube landscape, where the songs of the gypsy musicians can be heard echoing through the mountains.

Victoria Park Concerts

On Tuesday, July 29 at 7 p.m., The Gentlemen of Harmony will set the tone at the outdoor amphitheatre in Victoria Park.

The Gentlemen of Harmony started out 41 years ago as the Railcity chorus, but when the railroad shut down in Moncton, they changed the name to the Moncton Barbershop Chorus, which, most recently evolved under the name, The Gentlemen of Harmony. There are 26 gentlemen involved in the group, which sings four-part harmonies in a capella (without instruments or music). The Gentlemen are always looking for more members and interested men may call Paul Vautour for more information at 388-5127.

Artistes au Marché

Ce samedi 26 juillet, dans le cadre de la série Artistes au Marché, le public pourra voir deux spectacles exceptionnels. À 11 h, Sylvia Campbell montera sur la scène. Et de midi à 13 h, le groupe Wild Gypsies présentera son spectacle de musique.

Sylvia Campbell évolue sur la scène musicale des Maritimes depuis 15 ans. Elle est spécialisée en chanson country et yodeling et elle est violoneuse. Elle a lancé son premier album Echoes and Strings en 2007.

Les Wild Gypsies nous apportent les sons orientaux et les rythmes ensorcelants de la musique jouée traditionnellement par les lautari (musiciens tsiganes roumains). Leur spectacle vous emportera le long du Danube, où l’on peut entendre l’écho des musiciens tsiganes à travers les montagnes.

Le mardi 29 juillet, à 19 h, le groupe The Gentlemen of Harmony donnera le ton à l’amphithéâtre en plein air du parc Victoria.

Les Gentlemen of Harmony ont commencé il y a 41 ans sous le nom The Railcity Chorus. Mais lors de la fermeture du chemin de fer à Moncton, ils ont adopté le nom The Moncton Barbershop Chorus, qu’ils viennent de remplacer par The Gentlemen of Harmony. Composé de 26 hommes, le groupe interprète a capella (sans instruments de musique) des chansons en harmonie à quatre parties. Les Gentlemen sont toujours à la recherche d’autres membres. Pour obtenir de plus amples renseignements, les hommes désireux de se joindre au groupe peuvent appeler Paul Vautour au 388-5127.

C103 Charity Toss for Elton John Tickets

 

For Immediate Release: Thursday July 17, 2008

Moncton’s Classic Rock C103 has come up with an interesting way to give away Elton John tickets and help support the Children’s Wish Foundation at the same time.

 

On Friday July 18 beginning at 8am the Moncton Coliseum parking lot will be the site of our Charity Toss for Elton John Tickets.  For a two dollar donation to the Children’s Wish Foundation, the public will be asked to toss an item and try to get it in the target.  Everyone who participates will receive a ballot to win Elton John concert tickets.  Those who do especially well in the contest will receive increased chances to win tickets.  All money collected will be donated to the Children’s Wish Foundation, Moncton Sub-Chapter.
